letting them know I am at their service and if any creature is in need of healing, for them to send a representative and I’ll send healing energy to them and their relatives.

On a recent trip to the Pryor Mountains in Montana, we came across a small band of about 7 wild Mustangs. There were 2 stallions in the group and while one stayed with the mares and foals, the second came within 20 feet of us. He stood quietly for a moment, and then lay on the ground, upright, watching us. The clouds that day were sitting low and thick on the mountains so everything was embraced by a magical swirling mist. Thrilled at getting to see the mustangs, a dream of mine since childhood, I was honored that this magnificent creature was willing to receive the greatest gift I have to offer. With intention, we focused healing energy on him and after a few minutes he rolled over, passed a huge amount of gas, then stood up and quietly walked away to join the others. It seemed as if time stood still in those brief mystical moments!

Some of my richest experiences with wildlife have taken place along the Florida coast. Though I’d made many trips there and had many incredible encounters with dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles and numerous other species, I’d not yet glimpsed a manatee. Whether I actually saw one or not had nothing to do with offering healing to them, as I’ve been aware for some time of the injuries they frequently suffer from boats and other challenges in their habitat. One evening my companion saw what she thought was the back of a huge turtle, which in actuality was a manatee. As we offered healing and our gratitude for the experience, a second manatee surfaced and then a third. They floated just feet away from us and formed a triad in the water with their noses almost touching one another in the center, like a giant floating pinwheel! We sat with them for about ½ an hour until they swam away.

Then there was Stanley, a spider monkey living at a wildlife rescue that had been severely beaten by some other monkeys. Stanley had long lines of surgical staples securing numerous nasty wounds all over his body. When he realized we were there to help him, he instantly starting touching and pointing to the various injuries, even turning his back to show us the ones on his shoulder and neck and raising his arm to indicate the bite marks there. Stanley stole my heart!

While I’ve completed thousands of hours of humanitarian work offering healing to wildlife, I also have clients who are sick and injured domesticated animals that come to see me. There was an elderly little terrier-poodle mix that came in with back problems. The vet said he had likely slipped a disc jumping off the bed and prescribed something for pain and inflammation saying there was little else that could be done. When the dog came in, he walked like his spine was a slinky, his rear-end wandering after him rather than tracking in line. About 45 minutes into the session, the dog jumped out of my lap and marched to the door to greet his owner. When she opened the door he trotted down the sidewalk toward the car as if nothing had ever happened! His owner reports he’s had no further problems since then.

While teaching a healing class at a dude ranch in Montana, we saw several horse clients. One, a beautiful paint yearling stud colt that looked like Hidalgo, had deeply cut the back of his left rear leg just above the hoof. The suggestion from the vet was to put the horse down as the injury indicated the likelihood of permanent lameness and chronic pain. After 2 weeks, the colt was moving freely with only the slightest limp.  Another horse while we were there suffered a spiral fracture of the front leg while being ridden. One of the healers in the class rode in the trailer and worked on the horse during the hour drive to the vet while the others did long-distance healing. After diagnosing the fracture, the vet suggested putting this working cow horse down, however, upon the insistence of the owner he allowed the class to visit his clinic to see if we could help. After 4 healing sessions and less than a week later, the vet reported the horse was sound and sent him home.

Tony the pony, an elderly horse rescue resident suffering from founder experienced immediate reduction in pain and having refused to stand for several days was up and walking after a single session with a group of students from a healing class in Texas.

Artie came to us from animal welfare with a veterinarian’s diagnosis of mega-colon. X-rays showed the bowel of this nine-week-old kitten to be 3 times normal size and he was in great distress. The recommendation was made to surgically remove a large portion of this little kitty’s intestines. While animal welfare was raising the $1000.00 needed for the surgery, Artie was placed with us for foster care to see if we could help him. Five weeks later he went to Texas A&M for a surgical consult. The vet’s report stated that Artie showed no evidence of mega-colon and he no longer required surgery!

These are only a handful of miracles in healing that I have personally witnessed with animals. Does energetic healing help animals? You bet it does! The best news is that today more and more veterinarians are receptive to working alongside energetic and other complimentary/alternative healing practitioners. If these kinds of miracles can happen with cases that are often considered hopeless, imagine the healing that can occur when service is provided at the onset rather than as a last ditch effort!
